I have a 1996 Newmar Kounty Aire 5th Wheel and want to install an Onan 4.0 RV GenSet. Is an outer case necessary for installation, or is it mainly for sound and heat protection? Also, the ID tag is worn and I'm unable to read the specs. Can anyone provide information or direct me to a manual or specifications?

Contact Cummins with the Onan serial number to request an operator's manual in PDF format. Cummins acquired Onan years ago and may have information on older units, including specs and installation instructions.
